1. When to go to Disney World
Picking the time to go is where you will want to begin. Typically crowds are lower when children are in school and during the week however, when you can juggle your vacation time will be the defining factor. There are times of the year when Disney will host events like RunDisney and this will add to the crowds. Typically the most crowded times at Disney World are:
- Presidents’ Day week (third week in February)
- Spring Break period from mid-March through late April
- Memorial Day weekend, Summer (mid-June through Labor Day)
- Thanksgiving week
- Christmas week through January 1st
This does not mean you should never go during these times. Some of the dates are the most amazing time to go, it will require more advanced planning and organization.
2. How much to budget for a trip to Disney
This can vary widely based on the number of people you’re travelling with, where you want to stay, and how many days you want to visit the theme parks. When you go and what your travel style is like, will also help you estimate your budget. Start by looking at what you are willing to spend (projected) and what you will need.
You can easily put together a list or use the one we have provided to help guide you to your ideal budget.
One overlooked thing to remember is currency conversion. We are in Canada and Disney prices are in USD, so you will want to factor currency conversion into the budget.
3. Where to stay at Disney
You need to consider staying on-site at Walt Disney World to enjoy the extra benefits that are offered. All the Disney Resorts feature the same legendary storytelling, details and guest service that you would expect from Disney. No matter where you stay on Disney property the magic is abundant.
Disney offers a wide range of resorts that can easily fit into any budget and any family size. From Value, Moderate, Deluxe and Deluxe Villas, these resorts are sure to please.
Some of the benefits of staying in a Disney resort hotel are:
- Resort Transportation
- More time in the parks with Extra Magic Hours
- Early access to Dining Reservations
- Charge purchased to your room
- Proximity to the Parks
- Enjoy the Magic for your entire vacation
4. Book dining reservation at Disney
With close to 400 dining options, the abundance of choices can become overwhelming.
Most table service restaurants in Walt Disney World can be reserved 60 days in advance and if you are a Walt Disney Resort guest you can book up to 10 days from your arrival date. Offsite resort guests will have to call each day, one at a time.
So how to choose the best Disney restaurants?
Well, we have a blog post to help you out. Click on the link below to read all about dining options in Walt Disney World.
How to make Walt Disney World dining reservations:
5. Pre-purchase Disney tickets
There are many different Walt Disney World tickets and passes, and it can be very confusing to figure out which ones to buy, to hop or not to hop, etc.
First thing, you need to have a park ticket and a park reservation to enter any of the 4 Disney theme parks. So how do you decide on how many days, well that is up to you and how much time you need? Disney Park tickets are priced per day and the more days you add the less per day you will pay. So going from a 4 to a 5-day park ticket can be a less expensive option.
Remember to link all your tickets to your My Disney Experience account and book your park reversions as soon as possible. Disney park reversions go fast, especially around holidays. You don’t want to miss out.
A bonus for you....
Finding a deal on your Disney vacation
So how to find Disney World deals?
Well, the great thing is if you have a package booked (Resort and Tickets) you can modify the reservation when a deal gets announced. As long as your reservation meets the criteria of the new offer. Yes, this can come with long wait times or constant checking but a deal is a deal.
If you purchase tickets only this will not work for you. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
